Chris's 8 world religion ?'s

1. What is reality? How can you prove that something is real? What is truth? How is a religious truth different from a scientific truth.
2. Do you believe there are "beings" or a "higher being" "greater" than humans? Briefly explain.
3. Where do you think the world comes from? Where do you believe humans come from?
4. Are humans inherently good or bad and why?\
5. What do you think is eventually going to happen to the world?
6. What do you think happens to people after they die?
7. How should people behave and why? What should guide people's sense of how they "ought" to behave?
8. Describe your attitude towards those who believe differently than you do. If you consider yourself to belong to a particular religion, describe how that religion responds to individuals of other faiths. Do you have any friends or acquaintances of a different faith?

1. I think reality is what is happening in waking life. EX. Poverty is a reality. Truth is reality. Religous truth is introspective and relies on faith. Scientific truth is extrospective and relies on logic.

2. Are humans even the greatest? We destroy out of greed, revenge, religous beliefs, differences, etc. So maybe monkeys are better than us.

3. The world came from matter. That's how other bodies formed. Humans came to be because life evolved.

4. Humans are inherently neutral. We do what's best for us according to the values we learn along the way. You teach a little kid about sharing. He has no clue why he should share.

5. Unless we change our behavior, we will desinegrate this planet via pollution.

6. I don't know. I think we are reincarnated with no memory of our past. It's a lot more comforting to know you got a second shot instead of rotting in the ground.

7. Behave like the way you would want to be treated. The person's personality determines their behavior.

8. I think everyone is taking religion too seriously. It's like if they say god damnit, they'll forever burn in hell. If you think that way, great for you. I have a muslim friend but he doesn't follow his faith really. I have a friend who is a strong christian. She goes to church because she enjoys it, not because she thinks it's required. Most of my friends don't have a strong opinion about religion. I can say fuck the church's power. God is a personal connection. Don't let any priest tell you otherwise.

The last part sounds very Martin Luther, haha. I remember when I was younger I use to think that when we died we were born again as the next baby.

I am not very educated in the idea of reincarnation, but I wonder what the point of it is if you are reincarnated with no memory of your past. It is like you were never reincarnated at all, it is just a new person. It doesn't make any sense.

I like #8! I am not very fond of church myself. People sit in their pews and listen to the guy on stage tell them what to think about God. If a person is going to have a faith, they should discover it for themselves and not just accept something just to have something to accept (the majority does this in politics too, sadly). A person should have a personal relationship with their God. Everything else they do they have a personal relationship with. All the people they interact with, they have a relationship with (duh). And in doing so they follow the "rules" for interacting with people so that they get accepted. When someone fixes their car they have a relationship with the car, and they follow the rules of fixing the car so that everything goes according to plan. When you play the guitar you play it according to one set of rules or another. If you use a chainsaw to make music on the strings it just isn't going to work. The same way with someone's God. They should interact with him, have a relationship, and therefore follow the "rules" of having the relationship. The rules are unwritten, not silly things like "go to church every Sunday" or "look as holy as you can when people are watching." Just other rules that come naturally, just as in any other thing one does.

Sorry for such a long comment.... :)
